New iNaturalist Beetle Records

Most of Australia’s beetles and other invertebrates have never been photographed, or only a few poor quality images of them exist. This is Melisodera Westwood, an infrequently encountered ground beetle (Carabidae) usually found within rotting logs where they likely prey upon beetle larvae. Slowly I’m adding high-quality images of rare genera to iNaturalist: from there they’ll be added to the Atlas of Living Australia as located records, adding critical information on the distribution and nature or Australia’s highly endemic invertebrate fauna.
